FAQs

Given the circumstances, we hope this info helps you understand the event and safety protocols so that you can make an informed decision about attending!

Given the pandemic, how much of the event will be outdoors vs. indoors?

The event is primarily outdoors! The Veen is a big, open, outdoor space with room to spread out. Weather permitting, one of the telescopes is housed indoors and an optional opportunity to see space up close. We have planned this activity to occur in small groups to minimize indoor gathering.

What will the COVID protocols be?

We have reduced our guestlist in efforts to provide a comfortable space for attendees and will be following all Michigan guidelines. At this time, masks will be optional for vaccinated guests only, and required for anyone else in attendance. There will be plenty of space for physical distancing, but no specific rules related to distance.

What will the Michigan travel rules be?

Michigan has lifted quarantine restrictions if you are fully vaccinated. You can find the most up-to-date information here: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/travel-during-covid19.html

Are there any local places you’d recommend I visit while I’m in town?

Yes! There are so many gems to discover in GR. Some of our favorites include:

Coffee & a nosh: Field & Fire
Breakfast: Mudpenny & Basalt
Lunch: Downtown Market
Dinner: 40 Pearl & The Sovengard
Drinks: Eastern Kille
Shops: Lost & Found, Commune GR, & Vertigo Music
Walk about: Blandford Nature Center & Fulton Street Farmers Market

Have you reserved hotel room blocks?

No; We are "choose your own adventure" people. GR has many great options, rather you want to be close to the venue and airport, spend the weekend downtown, or split a fun airbnb with friends. That being said we have some great suggestions on our travel page if you are coming from out of town!

Is there parking?

Yes, the observatory has a dedicated lot and volunteers to make parking a seamless experience. There is a short gravel walkway to the actual site, so we recommend wearing practical footwear. There will also be a golf cart taxi, providing lifts to anyone who would prefer a ride to the venue space.

Are kids welcome?

While we love your little ones, our party is going to be an adults-only event so that everyone can relax and enjoy the evening. We appreciate you making arrangements ahead of time and leaving the kids at home so you can celebrate with us.

What should I do if I can’t make it?

You will be missed! If you can not make it to the party, please let us know as soon as possible and RSVP “no,” so we can plan accordingly.
