FAQs

Extra details about our wedding day and surrounding events.

Do I need a passport to travel to Italy?

Yes! Make sure that you have at least six months BEFORE your passport expires after your scheduled return to the US. The United States Department of State strongly recommends that you renew your passport when you have nine months of validity remaining. We highly recommend submitting your passport for renewal ASAP as delays are expected due to COVID related office closures.

Should I travel with cash to Italy?

Yes. You should bring Euros with you. The exchange rate and fee is much less at your bank than at an ATM (Bancomat in Italian). While most places take card many street vendors do not and gratuity should always be left in cash. Most bank chains are able to provide Euros if request is made 5-7 days prior to needing cash.

Is traveling to Italy safe?

Yes it is. That being said we recommend you stick to the well-trodden tourist areas; don’t wear expensive jewelry; and be subtle about displaying any flashy gear such as cameras and phones. Avoid walking alone at night, especially in places that are not well lit, and keep your passport and cards locked in a safe at your hotel.

Will language be a barrier?

If you are visiting a major tourist destination, anywhere in Italy, you will not have much of a hassle if you lack Italian language skills. It the more rural areas it will be a bit tougher if trying to talk to locals, but most hotels and restaurants have workers that speak at least broken English. They also just speak with hand gestures until you understand :)

How will COVID affect my trip?

We recommend staying up to date on CDC guidelines and updates from the US Embassay and Consulates of Italy.
