FAQs

Extra details about our wedding day and surrounding events.

Will the ceremony be taking place indoors or outdoors?

The ceremony and reception will both be outside in a camp-like setting. Guests should wear shoes that allow them to walk easily on gravel, sand and/or wood chip paths.

On September 11, the temperature in Plymouth typically ranges from 59°F to 71°F and is rarely below 49°F or above 81°F.

What hikes and/or other outdoor adventures are nearby?

There are plenty right at Long Pond and others a short drive away.
At Long Pond
• The Wildlands Trust and the State of MA maintain several walking/running/biking trails in the Halfway Pond Conservation Area and The Davis-Douglas Conservation Area.
• Our favorite hike/run routes are Gramp’s Loop and the Halfway Pond Trail in the Halfway Pond Conservation Area.
• The Conant’s own several boats including canoes, a kayak, a SUP and sail boats. If you are interested in using a boat, please let us know.
Near Long Pond
• Myles Standish State Forest – many hiking and running paths, also a great place for biking
• Ellisville Harbor State Park – a great walk and a natural beach on the Atlantic Ocean
• Cape Cod Rail Trail – a 22-mile trail that goes through many towns and parks on the cape

Are there any local places you’d recommend I visit while I’m in town?

Yes - Plymouth and the surrounding area offer many great activities for adventurers of all sorts! Below are just a few of the activities in driving distance from Long Pond.

• Whale Watch (4 hours at various times) - Cost $60, Whale Watching Plymouth & Provincetown, MA | Captain John Boats. There are also deep sea fishing, pirate boats and other boat tours that leave from Plymouth Harbor.
• Plimoth Plantation, The Mayflower and Plymouth Rock – Plimoth Plantation is only one exit away. The permanent exhibits (a replica of the community with reenactors) tell the complex and interwoven stories of two distinct cultures - English and Native. The Mayflower is similar and Plymouth Rock… is a rock.
• Plymouth - There are shops and restaurants both along the water and Main Street. It's a fun place to take a stroll, eat a lobster, ice cream or find your tourist souvenir.
• Ferry to Provincetown - Leaves at 10am arrives at 11:30am then departs at 4:30pm arriving in Plymouth at 6pm. Cost $60, Plymouth to Provincetown Express Ferry.
• Cape Cod – the bridge to Cape Cod is about 15 minutes from Long Pond and Providence town is about an hour and a half with no traffic. There are many more beaches, restaurants, small towns etc. all along the Cape.
• Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket – These two islands off the cape offer many additional activities. The ferry to Martha’s Vineyard leaves from Woods Hole (a fun town to visit as well!) and the ferry to Nantucket leaves from Hyannis.
• Boston – The city is a little over an hour away and has many historic and cultural attractions. The Plymouth & Brockton bus stops at Exit 5 (about a 15 min drive from Long Pond) and goes to Union Station and the Airport in Boston.

Can you swim in Long Pond?

Yes! Long Pond is a clear, sandy bottom pond and one of our favorite places to swim and boat. The water temperature in September can fluctuate but it is still generally swimmable - especially for those from the PNW that are accustomed to cold water temps. The Conant property, Pinewoods Camp and many rentals on the pond also have sandy beaches.

Are there local restaurants and/or grocery stores that you would recommend?

• Lobster and other seafood - Wood's Seafood, directly on the water in the harbor
• Lobster Roll and Ice Cream – Bramhall’s Country Store, one of the best lobster rolls. They have a limited selection beyond lobster and ice cream.
• Fried Clams and Ice Cream – Gellar’s Snack Bar, generations of Conant’s have grown up stopping by this local spot that’s been open for around 100 years.
• Good Food in a Beautiful setting - The Rye Tavern
• Grocery Stores – The Market and Shaws
• Breakfast - The Blueberry Muffin
