Our Story

Mike and Megan first met at a restaurant in downtown Detroit called Bakersfield. It was here they bonded over their love of spicy margaritas and shrimp tacos. Both living in downtown Detroit at the time, the two quickly became inseparable. After a year of bike riding the Dequindre Cut, becoming foodies trying every new restaurant that opened in Detroit, and seeing all of the live music the city had to offer, the two decided it was time to move in together. After a year at the Scott, the stars aligned and the two were able to buy a house together in Berkley. It is here they live with their Golden Retriever, Baker (named after Bakersfield, of course) and the rest is history!

The Proposal

December 17th 2021, Mike and Megan had planned to play hooky from work to get some last minute Christmas shopping done and go ice skating in the city. It was on their way there that Mike suggested they check out the riverwalk since it was such a nice day. Waiting at the spot Mike asked Megan to be his girlfriend years earlier were two dozen longstem roses, champagne, the words "Marry Me" in marquee letters, and a photographer to catch the whole thing on film. 

She said YES!!!!!!!! 

While they popped champagne on the Riverwalk, Megan learned they would not be heading home that night. Mike had packed her bags, arranged a puppy sitter for Baker, and booked a night at the Shinola Hotel! That wasn't the only surprise... Mike also arranged a helicopter ride over Detroit for the two of them where they flew over the spot he asked her to marry him and they enjoyed the holiday lights from above! 

They finished the night where it all began, Bakersfield.
